Event registries. They are pretty self-explanatory, aren’t they? Everyone knows how to get on someone’s registry and purchase a gift. Pretty stress free right? Wrong! What no one sees is the stressed-out person who just got done putting together that registry. Knowing what and how much to put on registries is a huge stress that no one really talks about. Especially when you are a first-time mom and you have no idea what you need or what you’re doing. First-time baby registries are absolutely no fun.
The internet is full of information regarding any and all products that can be purchased. These informational videos and write-ups from product companies are a great reference. But, do they really help when you have no idea what these products do or if you even need them? They do not. Seeing a need for input on more of a personal level, moms from all over are also sharing their opinions and experiences via the many forms of social media. This helps quite a bit more than just a list of random information. Thank you, veteran mommas! We really appreciate the help. All in all, there is information everywhere regarding baby products. And it’s all extremely overwhelming.
So, how do first-time mommas know what to include on their baby registry? Simple answer, you don’t! The most important thing to know when starting a baby registry is, that no one else knew what they needed either. You aren’t alone.
Identifying your most basic needs, is the best place to start. (1) A place for your little one to sleep, and (2) a way to get them home from the hospital safely. These products can be easily researched. Almost every big, target baby item like this has to meet a certain level of safety ratings before being put on the market. Once you are comfortable with your choice, you are ready to rock and roll! As far as ALL the other stuff. Go for it! If you like the idea of certain products or want to try something new, do it! Every mom and every baby is different. Meaning, that we all like different things. What works for one momma, might not work for another, and what works for my baby, might not work for yours. You are free to give even the wildest of ideas a try.
Afterward, if you still have questions, each and every momma out here is willing to lend a helping hand. Since everyone’s experience is a little different, together there is a lot of knowledge out there. So, there’s no need for all the unneeded stress over putting together a baby registry. We’re all in this together! Being able to check that worry off my list and knowing that I’m not alone makes this whole new momma experience a little less scary. I hope it does for you as well!
